CONNX 10.5 SP2 enables support for Oracle Rdb and Oracle CODASYL DBMS for OpenVMS on HP Integrity Servers, expanded support of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and other enhancements

CONNX Solutions, Inc., a leading provider of simplified data access management and integration software solutions, announces the release of CONNX 10.5 SP2. This release features support for Oracle Rdb and Codasyl DBMS for OpenVMS on HP Integrity Servers, expanded support of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and other enhancements.

Support for Oracle Rdb and CODASYL DBMS for OpenVMS on HP Integrity Servers

CONNX Solutions welcomes to its family of OpenVMS/HP Integrity server products, CONNX for Oracle Rdb and CONNX for Oracle CODASYL DBMS. CONNX already supports RMS and Oracle for OpenVMS on HP Integrity Servers.

Customers using CONNX for RMS on HP Integrity servers running OpenVMS have reported a significant performance increase over previous generations of servers, and customers using CONNX for Oracle Rdb and CONNX for Oracle CODASYL DBMS on HP Integrity servers running OpenVMS can experience a similar improvement in performance. CONNX Solutions has been offering RMS support on HP Integrity servers running OpenVMS since April 2005.

“With this update CONNX fully supports the HP Integrity platform for OpenVMS with all relevant data sources. We are pleased that customers are satisfied with the performance gains of using our products on this platform,” said Larry McGhaw, the CTO & VP of Engineering at CONNX Solutions.

With the addition of Oracle Rdb and CODASYL DBMS support on HP Integrity servers running OpenVMS, enterprise businesses can transition to a higher performance platform.

CONNX Solutions now offers the same secure, real-time, read/write SQL access and seamless joins between most legacy and non-legacy databases on HP Integrity servers running OpenVMS for:

  • CONNX for RMS

  • CONNX for Oracle Rdb

  • CONNX for Oracle Codasyl DBMS

  • CONNX for Oracle

Expanded CONNX Support of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 with the following functions:

  • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
Users are now able to transfer data to and from CONNX supported databases and Microsoft SQL Server 2005, using SSIS capabilities, including data transformation. Please note that if complex data transformations are required, SSIS is the suggested tool. However, if high speed incremental data synchronizations are required, CONNX Data Synchronization is still the tool to use for incremental updates from legacy data sources.
  • Analysis Services
CONNX now supports the creation of dimensions and cubes, which enables users to take advantage of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 data mining capabilities.
  • Linked Servers
In addition to running an in-process linked server, CONNX can now function as an out-of-process linked server.

“CONNX now fully integrates with SQL Server’s SSIS and Analysis Services. We are pleased to satisfy the requests of our customers with this service pack,” said Bill Luton, Director of Engineering at CONNX Solutions.

Numerous feature requests have been implemented, including:

  • Alternate Index Support for CONNX for IBM® VSAM when Running as a Started Task
Along with IBM VSAM alternate indexes through IBM® CICS®, CONNX now supports IBM VSAM alternate indexes when running as a Started Task on OS/390 or z/OS.
  • TextDBMS Support
CONNX now supports compressed Text data encoding for IBM VSAM, often used by legislative software packages.
  • Enhanced COBOL Copybook Support
CONNX has extended computational fields support within the COBOL FD import.
  • Expanded Support for CONNX for IBM® IMS
CONNX for IBM IMS can now import metadata directly from PSBs, DBDs and ACBs.

These and the many other features contained within this release add performance, functionality, and ease of use to CONNX. This release contains all previous enhancements and resolved issues.
